What we collect and why

Namesake uses your email address for account access, sign-in links and service messages. The kit uses the questionnaire answers you save: province, adult confirmation, marriage and surname choices, certificate status, selected services, travel timing and prior CRA name-change status. We save checklist progress and payment-access records so you can return to your kit.

To personalize documents, you can provide previous and new names, spouse names, residential and mailing addresses, phone, email, and marriage date and place. These saved details are used to generate your documents. We do not ask for date of birth, SIN, health-card, driver's licence or passport numbers, or ID scans. Complete any required private fields directly on the official form, not in Namesake.

Storage and service providers

• Cloudflare Workers and D1: host the application and store account, saved questionnaire, checklist, session and payment-access records.
• Stripe: processes checkout and payment information. Namesake stores payment references and access status, not your card number or security code.
• Resend: delivers sign-in links and transactional email. Sign-in email contains your email address and access link, not your questionnaire answers or generated PDFs.

The sign-in system uses session cookies. Technical session records can include IP address and browser information for account security. Each provider processes information under its own privacy terms. We do not claim that all processing occurs in Canada.

Site analytics

Our pages use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a traffic measurement service that runs from the same Cloudflare network that hosts the site. It records page views, the referring site, browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. It does not use cookies or local storage, does not build a profile across other websites, and does not collect your questionnaire answers, saved details or documents. Cloudflare aggregates this information for us; each provider processes information under its own privacy terms. To opt out, enable Do Not Track in your browser or use a content blocker, or contact us with a privacy question.

The local demo

The questionnaire demo saves its sample answers, details and progress in your browser's local storage. Use made-up information on a shared device. The Reset / delete local demo data button clears those saved demo values. Demo PDFs are generated in your browser. The separate passport review demo does not save its entered details to local storage.

Deletion and questions

You can request deletion of your account and saved kit information by emailing hello@namesake.life from your account email. Deletion requests are handled by support, not an automatic button. We may need to verify the request and explain any payment or accounting records that must be retained. Deleting account data does not delete copies you already downloaded or records held by government agencies.

Please do not send ID numbers, ID scans or completed government forms by email. Contact us if a detail is incorrect or you have a privacy question.
