What you are buying

One digital package, delivered in your Namesake account, for one person changing their surname after marriage: a personalized checklist, a province guide, a notification letter template, email texts, a progress tracker, saved-value copy sheets, and the official forms listed for your province where the government publishes a fillable form.

The price is $49 CAD, one time, plus GST/HST calculated at checkout from your province. There is no subscription and no renewal. Government filing fees, courier costs and certified copies are separate and paid to the government or issuer, not to us.

What it is not

Namesake is an independent guide. We are not a law firm or a government office, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Government of Canada or any provincial or territorial government. We do not submit anything on your behalf: you review, complete, sign and submit your own documents. We cannot guarantee that an agency will accept a document or how long it will take.

Where an official form is pre-filled for you, it uses the details you entered. Check every pre-filled value against your documents before you sign or submit it, and email hello@namesake.life if anything needs changing. Where a step cannot be pre-filled, the kit gives you sourced step-by-step instructions and says plainly which fields you complete yourself.

Your account and access

Access is tied to the email address you paid with, using the sign-in link we email you. Access lasts at least 12 months from purchase, and we will give notice before any change to that. Keep your own copies of anything you download.

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter, and you must not enter anyone else's information without their permission. We do not ask for, and the kit does not collect, your date of birth, SIN, health-card, licence or passport numbers, or scans of identity documents. Refunds: 30-day money-back guarantee

If the kit is not right for you, email hello@namesake.life within 30 days of purchase and we will refund the full amount you paid, including the tax, to the original payment method. You do not have to give a reason.

Every request is reviewed by a person and approved refunds are paid in full to your original payment method, usually within 5 business days of approval plus your bank's own processing time. There are no self-serve refunds. Access to the kit ends for that purchase once a refund is issued. Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under applicable consumer protection law.

Gifts

A gift is one kit for one recipient. You pay and we email you a private single-use code to forward. Gift purchases are covered by the same 30-day guarantee, and a refund goes to the original purchaser. If a gift is refunded or disputed, any access already redeemed with its code ends.

Changes to the kit

Government forms and processes change. We update the kit when we confirm a change, and you can download the current version while your access lasts. We do not promise that an already-downloaded copy stays current, or that content is updated on any particular schedule.

Disputes and contact

Start with hello@namesake.life; we usually reply within one business day. If we cannot resolve something, the laws of Alberta and the courts of Alberta apply.
